Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Our Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports is called Golden RAMS. This program  promotes Intermediate School Expectations as well as the Character Trait of the Marking Period. During the first class meeting of each month, students brainstorm what they feel are the actions and descriptions of the monthly trait. The School Counselors tabulate the responses to select what is displayed throughout the school.

When Intermediate students are seen by staff members displaying those character traits, the students receive a small Golden RAMS  paper completed by the staff member which describes the action, where it took place and the name of the student. Students take the papers to the office to be placed in a box designated by grade. Each day the papers and names are read over the announcements. At the end of the week, a name is drawn from each box and the winners receive a prize in the form of a small gift card. The teacher who completed the paper of the winner is also a winner.

At the end of the month, each team nominates a boy and girl for student of the month. The Golden RAMS committee reviews the nominations based on the character trait of the month and selects a boy and girl from each grade level. All nominees receive a prize from a prize box sponsored by the Intermediate PTO and a group picture is displayed in the school. The students selected as Students of the Month also receive a prize from the prize box in addition to a small gift certificate. Inpidual pictures are taken and displayed in the office and the school.

Our students also complete Golden RAMS  papers for staff members who they feel have been, for example, helpful, kind, supportive, to name a few. The students place the papers in a Staff Golden RAMS box. Each week a staff member name is drawn from the box and the staff member receives a small gift certificate. Staff Golden RAMS Cards are placed in the windows of the library for all to read.
